MAA Fall Events and Updates

IT’S MEMBERSHIP TIME–PLEASE RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP FOR 2019!!
October has been active with events as well as shoppers.  We had a stellar Masquerade Ball fundraiser.  If you missed it, I think you will have another chance next year!

We also had a reception for our Spotlight Artists, Georgia Coast Artists Guild and sold works by three of those artists, including our own Mary O. Smith and Marjorie Hill.  Emory Moody sold a photograph from our current gallery show.

Our Pumpkin Patch just wrapped up and the kids loved it.  THANK YOU to our volunteers who made it all possible, and especially to Ethel Wilson who made two trips to Atlanta to get the pumpkins for the children and Jane Watkins who contributed the craft supplies and Bingo prizes!  (We are still selling pumpkins for your pie and soup needs.)

Fall Fest is tomorrow 10-5 and Sunday 10-4.  Come out for a great time and visit the MAA booth and the Old Jail.  You will find vendors for your holiday shopping, a classic car show, a rummage sale, a doggie parade, a kids’ venue, and more!

We still have some November days on the calendar: 17th, 26th, 28th, 30th, and Dec. 1st.  Thank you for filling out the rest of November.

Christmas in Darien is coming the 2nd of December and it is a wonderfully festive event.  It begins with the tree lighting at Grant’s Chapel, followed by a lighted float parade, and vendors are invited to participate in a holiday market in town.  Once again, THE REAL Santa will be coming to the Old Jail to meet the children.  MAA volunteers will be needed in various capacities, and we will need hors d’oeuvres as well,  We will have cookies and punch for the kids.

November 28, 9-5:  We still have 3 spaces for Peggy Everett’s Oil Painting workshop.  The cost is $80 and any skill level is welcome.

Call for Youth Entries:  Keep McIntosh Beautiful and MAA are teaming up again for our next Spotlight exhibit.  This one is open to youth ages 5 through 19, and the theme is My Beautiful McIntosh.  Look for details on our website or early next week via email.

The Darien Lions Holiday Bazaar is calling for vendors of handcrafted items for Saturday, Dec. 8, 10-4 at the Lion’s Club House, 905 E. Broad Street.  Applications  and information are available at the Old Jail or click here.  There will also be a Decorated Tree donation and auction.  And don’t miss Santa’s visit 1-3!
